Taycan Interior Design – Digital, simple and sustainable

07/10/2020

The all electric Taycan is the next stage of E-Performance for Porsche and with that in mind the designers needed an interior that was in-keeping with the design ethos of the car. This was based around three core elements: Digital, simple and sustainable.

The original 1963 911’s cleanly style dashboard was the inspiration with the goal to bring it into the present day. The cockpit signals the start of a new era with a completely new construction.

The interior is clearly driver focused with a clean, ultra-modern design making the controls easy to operate and free from distraction. The instrument cluster consists of a curved 16.8 inch screen rounded to match the look of a typical Porsche. Drivers can choose between four display modes including power meter, map mode, full map mode and reduced. This choice gives the driver greater control over the information they wish to see.

A central 10.9 screen and an optional passenger screen are combined to form an integrated glass band following the design principle of simplicity. This central screen is the hub of the car allowing complete control over all configurations. The driver can also access their apps and navigation via the screen or by voice control with ‘Hey Porsche’.

The elevated centre console intensifies the feeling of a low seating position, as you would expect from a Porsche. This console features another screen allowing the simple control of the climate settings.

Interior materials are typically Porsche with high quality leather and various colour options. However, for the first time Porsche now offers a leather free interior with the state of the art Race-Tex material made from recycled polyester fibres. Its production has 80 percent less Co2 than traditional materials.

The Taycan is available for demonstration drives at Porsche Centre Leeds now. Contact 0113 389 0600 or info@porscheleeds.co.uk to discover more about the all new Porsche Taycan.
